About Patricia

GROWING UP

As a youth, Patty was involved in many sports. She studied Karate and played parish softball from 5-16. In School, she was MVP for Volleyball, played basketball, was the quarterback for the Immaculata/Blenk football game, and joined in other sports activities.

Patty learned the value of hard work, service, faith, and compassion from her parents (Charles L and Patricia Hingle McCarty).

CAREER

Frequently traveling to Washington, D.C., in pursuit of her career, Patty was on the verge of great success when her mother became ill. Choosing to put her career on hold, Patty returned full-time to care for her mother (and now) aging father. Years later, her father remarked that Patty’s “knowledge and dedication kept them both alive!".

While caring for her mother, Patty worked for herself and continued her education, culminating with a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University.

ABOUT MR. & MRS. MCCARTY

Patricia Hingle McCarty, her mother, a Plaquemines Parish native from Ostrica (on the east bank), rowed a skiff across the Mississippi River to attend school in Buras. Patty’s mother was an avid reader. She was creative and innovative; she could make anything from scratch (cook, sew, needlepoint, draw, etc.).

Charles L. McCarty grew up on a family farm in North Louisiana. Charles (Mac) met Patricia Hingle shortly after moving to Plaquemines Parish. Charles worked in the oil field and lived with his sister (husband - principal of Buras High School) until WWII. (Charles proposed to Patricia while serving in the Navy as an aircraft gunman on a troop ship in the Pacific.) Charles is a successful entrepreneur, inventor of the oil rig shut-off valve, founder of an oil tool company (former President of Baker Hughes CAC International), founding member of the Mississippi River Bank, 33rd-degree Mason, Chairman of the Shriners Burns Hospital, and much more. He could do it all because my mother was his support. (My mother named the Mississippi River Bank.)

COMMUNITY

Patty is a devoted member of the OLPH Choir, a cantor, and a guitarist who attends multiple masses when needed.
